Early life
Ram Prasad Bismil was born on 11 June 1897 to Muralidhar Tomar and Moolmati in a Tomar Rajput family, who traced their roots to Barwai in Morena district of Madhya Pradesh,of Shahjahanpur district in erstwhile North-Western Provinces.
Literary works
1. Bismil published a pamphlet titled Deshvasiyon ke nam sandesh .
2. Popular songs ' mera rang de Basanti chola ' was also given by him.
3. He immortalised the poem Sarfaroshi Ki Tamanna, Man Ki Lahar and Swadeshi Rang as a war cry during the British Raj period in India.
Revolutionary carrier
Bismil was a freedom fighter who played an active role in India's freedom struggle. In memory of his contribution towards India's independence, his birthday (11 June) is observed as a celebration day by the Indians. He is well known for being a part of the Manipuri conspiracy in 1918 and the Kakori conspiracy in 1925.
Memorial
1. Shaheed Smarak Samiti of Shahjahanpur established a memorial at Khirni Bagh mohalla of Shahjahanpur city where Bismil was born in 1897 and named it "Amar Shaheed Ram Prasad Bismil Smarak".
2. A statue made of white marble was inaugurated by the then Governor of Uttar Pradesh Motilal Vora on 18 December 1994 on the eve of the martyr's 69th death anniversary.
Death
On 19th December 1927, Ram Prasad Bismil, freedom fighter, was hanged at Gorakhpur Jail, for his role in the Kakori conspiracy.
